Steffen Christensen, MD

Dr. Steffen Christensen practiced obstetrics and gynecology in Fargo for fifteen years before he decided to try something different and explore fertility and in vitro fertilization. When those treatments were still new, Dr. Christensen decided to introduce IVF to North Dakota. To do so, he did a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then started an IVF program in North Dakota, which is still the only program in the state. Since the program started in 1994, it has seen tremendous change. At the time, pregnancy rates were in the 30-35% range. In 2019, the program’s pregnancy rates were in the 80% range. Dr. Christensen enjoys seeing his patients, especially those from the rural parts of the state. He likes that all his patients are different and respects their confidence in him. Because they trust him, he feels he has to do the best he can for them. Call the Sanford Reproductive Medicine Clinic to schedule an appointment with Dr. Christensen.
