Ava's House
Ava’s House is a new approach to hospice care. Our patients receive comfort-first care with an emphasis on dignity and compassion. You and your loved ones will be welcomed into the Sanford Health family and given the highest quality care.
Hospice seeks to improve the quality of life for terminally ill patients. It focuses on palliative medicine, meaning our team concentrates on relieving pain and maximizing patients’ comfort. We offer care for patients of all ages, including pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Ava’s House delivers around-the-clock care in a home-like environment while giving patients access to expert care from their physicians and care team.

We offer suites for adults and children. The adult and geriatric suites are bright and inviting rooms big enough for patients and their families. They include in-room recliners and an adjacent family room with a sleeper sofa for family to stay overnight free of charge. The children suites promote play, normalization and coping. They are designed to be comforting to our youngest patients. There is a Murphy bed in each room for a loved one to sleep near their child.
A Unique Healing Environment
We built our Ava’s House facility with the patient and their family in mind. We want the whole family to find comfort and compassion at Ava’s House. Families are encouraged to make the patient’s suite their own. Bring decorations and mementos to transform the suite into a home. All suites have additional sleeping areas. We welcome families to spend the night at no cost.

- Adjacent family space with sleeping options

- Pass through cabinets for staff to resupply without disturbing patients
- Patient lift for mobility
- Room darkening shades
- Secure entry
- Wi-Fi access

Your Comfort Comes First
Ava’s House has a front, wrap-around porch with a bench swing to offer a quiet and tranquil setting for patients and guests. There is a patio space outside each patient suite that connects to other areas of Ava’s House through walking paths.
Ava’s House has a guest kitchen with comfortable seating for up to 10 people. It is always freshly stocked with cookies and coffee for patients and guests. For guests who can’t come in person, we have a community room with a big screen TV. Patients can connect with these loved ones over Skype. The community room also hosts movie nights and other community events.
For our younger patients, we have a designated children’s playroom. Our pediatric patients and their loved ones can freely express themselves and participate in facilitated therapeutic activities.
