While in a clinical rheumatology fellowship, Dr. Overiene developed a special interest in gout and intra articular aspirations and injections, which is one of the most efficient ways of diagnosing the disease and alleviating symptoms. She also became skilled in soft tissue injections, including occipital nerve and carpal tunnel injections. Glucocorticoid induced osteoporosis has always been one of her interests, as well as rheumatoid arthritis and spondyloarthropathies, and she has always been fascinated by lupus, vasculitis and inflammatory myopathies.

Idea of Care

As a rheumatologist, Dr. Overiene is looking for a long lasting relationship with her patients, providing them continuity of care. She believes that it is very important to educate her patients and their families about their condition, and to provide them the most up-to-date information available. Her goals for patient care and therapy are to improve their quality of life and despite the chronic nature of their condition, to enable them to feel well on an everyday basis.

Dr. Overiene is married and has two boys. Justin wants to be a dinosaur explorer and a rheumatologist. Nikolas is following his brother’s example.
