As a Neonatologist, Dr. Moen specializes in the care of premature and critically ill newborn babies in the NICU.

She cares for infants with a range of conditions including:

Dr. Moen is the co-Associate Program Director for the UND Pediatrics Residency Program and also is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Services. She is the program director for the NICU Developmental Follow-Up Program which provides comprehensive care for high-risk NICU graduates.

As a Clinical Investigator through Sanford Research, she is examining outcomes for children cared for in the NICU.

Experience & Research

Dr. Moen’s research interest is in neurodevelopmental and psychological outcomes of children who were cared for in the NICU. She also is interested in how families cope with taking care of a baby who was in the NICU and how this affects family functioning and health-related quality of life. She continues this research work through Sanford Research and Sanford Children’s NICU Developmental Follow-Up Program.

She also has done work in the past on improving bereavement care for families who have suffered an infant loss in the NICU.

Idea of Care

With an attention to details, I strive to provide evidence-based care to the tiniest of patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. I believe it is important to care not only for the infant, but the infant’s family as well. I am deeply humbled by the trust families put in the medical team to care for their child, and this motivates me to provide each infant with the highest standard of care.

Personal Interests

Dr. Moen and her husband Nathan are both from North Dakota. In her spare time she enjoys running, attending the symphony, snowmobiling, spending time with family, and traveling.
