A Specialist In Internal Medicine Caring for Hospitalized Patients
Randall Lamfers, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician. He works in a role similar to having a primary care physician in the hospital. He cares for the general medical needs of hospitalized patients and coordinates their care with primary care providers and specialists.
Dr. Lamfers’ services include:
- Obtaining a patient’s medical history
- Performing physical exams
- Ordering and interpreting lab and diagnostic tests
- Prescribing medications
- Treating common illnesses
- Providing health education and counseling
In addition to his medical work, Dr. Lamfers is an associate professor of medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. He also serves as the hospitalist quality director.
