Online Safety Class
The internet has given us access to a wealth of information and entertainment. However, that information and entertainment come with some risks. This class focuses on online safety tips for parents, caregivers and their children when navigating the online world of social media, games, and information. Topics include the importance of caregiver involvement, general online safety tips, Media / AI (Artificial Intelligence) literacy, Phone / App safety, and online gaming.
In this class we will discuss sensitive topics that involve children including cyberbullying, online predators, and child sexual abuse materials (CSAM). No sensitive images or videos will be shown but the topics will be discussed at a high level. The instructor will give advance notice before these sections begin so participants can make informed choices about their engagement.
Youth ages 10 and older are welcome to attend with a caregiver present. Attendance by any child is at the caregiver’s discretion.
