Transitioning Beyond the Basics
Designed for expecting parents planning to breastfeed or for parents already breastfeeding, this lifestyle class expands beyond the basics of breastfeeding to discuss how to anticipate and cope with breastfeeding challenges, knowing when and where to get help, and the importance of self-care. Learn about the different types of pumps, pumping tips, safe breastmilk storage and preparation, returning to work while breastfeeding or pumping, planning for separation from baby, travel & lifestyle tips, and more!
Participants should attend Breastfeeding Beginnings: Basics for Success, prior to attending Breastfeeding Lifestyle.
When is the class? This class is offered monthly in-person and online
Who should attend? Pregnant persons toward the end of their pregnancy and their support person are all encouraged to attend. The knowledge and support of those around the breastfeeding parent and child significantly impact the success of breastfeeding.
If you have your baby already, you are welcome to bring your baby (up until baby starts crawling). You are also encouraged to attend Baby Café for any questions or concerns they may have regarding breastfeeding.
What do I bring? Something to write with and a small snack or beverage, if desired. Explanation of how to use your particular pump can be done in the hospital when you deliver or during a visit with a lactation consultant.
