Sanford Clinic Hospitalists

A Hospitalist is a physician who specializes in caring for patients in a hospital setting. The Sanford Hospitalist Team is comprised on board certified internal medicine physicians who practice solely within Sanford USD Medical Center. Our Hospitalist physicians do not maintain an outpatient practice.

The Sanford Hospitalist team manages the care of patients referred to it by the emergency department, or primary and specialist physicians when it is felt the hospitalist’s expertise and care is required. In many areas of the country, primary care physicians are referring their patients to a Hospitalist when their patients are sick enough that they can no longer be cared for in the outpatient setting. In such cases, you will always see your regular doctor soon after discharge.

Because they work only in the hospital, and because a member of the Hospitalists team is on site 24 hours a day, your Hospitalist is never more than a few minutes away and can respond immediately to any emergency.
