Outpatient Services

The Pediatric Outpatient Unit at Sanford Children’s Hospital provides services and procedures to children who do not require a hospital stay. Our outpatient unit is staffed by: pediatric intensive care physicians Wyc Cheatham, MD, Didima Mon-Sprhehe, MD and Joseph Segeleon, MD, who specialize in sedation services, pediatric registered nurses, and a certified child life specialist.

Registration for your outpatient visit begins in the Locken Lobby of Sanford USD Medical Center. Located within Sanford Children’s Hospital, our outpatient unit is open Monday through Friday.

If children will be receiving sedation for his/her procedure, they will meet a Pediatric Intensive Care Physician who specializes in sedation or an Anesthesiologist, along with pediatric registered nurses, and a certified child life specialist.

Other services offered by the Pediatric Outpatient Unit may include:

  • IV starts
  • Nasal Gastric tube placements
  • Dressing changes
  • Catheter placements
  • Medicine infusions
  • Port-a-cath access/flush

Please note a pediatric registered nurse will contact a patient’s family the day before a scheduled procedure date to provide specific instructions about his/her visit.
