Department PhysiciansAs the most comprehensive and highly trained pediatric cardiology team in the area, Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic offers patients complete and thorough evaluations and treatment. Our pediatric heart team is led by pediatric cardiologists Somkiat "Sam" Sopontammarak, MD, Theresa Stamato, MD, FACC and Bill Waltz, PhD, MD, pediatric cardiovascular surgeon John VanderWoude, Jr, MD, FACS, and pediatric anesthesiologist R.J. Lunn, MD. This team of physicians is supported by a wide variety of specially trained pediatric staff. Dr. Stamato is the only pediatric-trained interventional cardiologist in the region – with the ability to diagnose and treat heart conditions through cardiac catheterizations. Dr. Waltz specializes in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography. Dr. Sam specializes in interventional cardiac catheterization for congenital heart disease.
