Sanford Cancer Center
The first phase of the Cancer Center, opened in September 2003, houses radiation services. The second phase is dedicated to Sanford Clinic Breast Health Institute. Future building phases include moving the medical oncologists, infusion, and research to the Cancer Center and creating a healing garden for patients and visitors to relax. Adult InpatientSanford Health inpatient oncology unit is located on the 6th floor of the main hospital building. A multidisciplinary team of professionals and support staff care for the oncology patients and families. The Oncology Unit has 3 nationally certified oncology nurses with extensive oncology experience and 26 nurses certified to administer chemotherapy. The unit has a full-time dietitian and pharmacist to assist in planning care to meet the specialized needs of oncology patients. An oncology case manager assists with home care arrangements, referral services and many other questions and concerns patients and their family members often have. The staff is dedicated to the special needs of oncology patients and their families. They strive to deliver excellent care to all patients with an emphasis on caring, quality, symptom control and pain management. We believe the achievement of these objectives will help to maintain a quality of life that oncology patients deserve. No matter where people are in their cancer journey, we are here for them. Our ultimate goal is to make a difficult time better for patients and their families. |
