HEDIS Report

HEDIS (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) is the nation’s premier measurement tool for managed care quality and service. It is a set of standardized performance measures designed to ensure that purchasers and consumers have the information they need to reliably compare the performance of managed health care plans. HEDIS requires health plans to collect data in a standardized way so that comparisons are fair and valid.

This report provides you with Sanford Health Plan's HEDIS results and the programs and activities that have been put in place to improve the health care and services the Plan provides to its members. The HEDIS measures, which are reported on an annual basis, are divided into domains that all reflect different aspects of care. The results are presented to you in comparison to NCQA's Quality Compass HEDIS benchmarks, which are a compilation of audited HEDIS results from health plans across the nation. The HEDIS results are also compared to the Healthy People 2010 goals, where available. Healthy People 2010 is a set of 10-year health objectives for the United States aimed at health promotion and disease prevention initiatives. It was developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with the input of scientific experts from many different Federal agencies.

The following domain and measure descriptions were referenced from HEDIS: Technical Specifications and HEDIS: Narrative, What’s In It and Why It Matters.
